Student and Teacher Perceptions of Mind Mapping: A Middle School Case Study
Survey - Karen Goodnough and Robin Woods - Paper presented at the Annual Meeting of
the American Educational Research Association of 2002.
A study on the use of mind mapping as an instructional and learning tool in a
sixth-grade classroom with 16 students. Students perceived mind maps as an
entertaining and interesting approach and thought that mind maps enhanced their
learning. Most students preferred individual mind mapping; some preferred group
mind mapping. The teacher enjoyed using mind maps and thought that it fostered
student motivation in learning science.
