Mind maps - Overview

V. V. Vilela

The spirit of this article is to provide information to guide you in their evaluation and subsequent decision of investing on them, with some suggestions for the next steps. In particular, see Roles and Opportunities and Critical Perspective sections.

A good introduction to mind maps, with many links. Just be careful with the section Mind mapping in contrast with concept mapping: the main difference between mind maps and concept maps is structural: while mind maps are hierarchies of ideas, concept maps are networks of ideas.

Tony Buzan and Barry Buzan, Plume, 1996.

This is a classical book about mind maps, their uses, benefits and constructive principles and directives (called "laws"), from the main personality in this area, Tony Buzan. It's a nicely illustrated colored edition and a good introduction, though it lacks more content on mind map semantic quality.
