How to introduce mind mapping to younger children

Some ideas from Michael Tipper to teach children how to do their first mind map.

We see these possible variations to his strategy:

- Don't tell the child that she is "mind mapping" before she gets some experience; she doesn't have a meaning for those words yet.

- Instead of starting from farm categories (like Animals and Buildings), try to have the child find more concrete elements (like cow and house) and then have her organize the elements into categories. Both abstract-to-concrete and concrete-to-abstract are potentially useful thinking directions, you should start with the one that seems easier to the child.
